LIFE Peat Restore’s Final Conference surpassed our expectations! The online event reached over 700 people. Such a high interest reflects the growing visibility and recognition of peatland ecosystems.
This autumn there have been numerous events exploring peatlands’ climate mitigation role and promoting discussions on the upscaling of peatland restoration. In case you missed our Final Conference, you are warmly invited to visit our virtual platform here, where the projects key findings and insights gained are available in a variety of forms, for example:
Recording of the panel discussion with the peat industry – ‘Moving Beyond Peat Extraction’;
Best Practice Book for Peatland Restoration and Climate Change Mitigation;
Films ‘The True Power of Peatlands’ and ‘Make Peatlands Wet Again’;
Additionally, the recordings of all of the presentations are available separately, so if you are interested in a specific topic or speaker you can access the presentation directly. The presentations in pdf formats will be available soon.
Although we have just hosted the closing of our project, celebrating the conclusion of the restoration of 5,300 ha of degraded peatlands; our efforts to put peatlands on the agenda of governments will continue during the upcoming COP26. On November 5, LIFE Peat Restore will present the lessons learned after five years collaborating with peatland stakeholders, planning and restoring peatlands.
