In cooperation with the Embassies of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, NABU is excited to announce the photo exhibition ‘Restoring Peatlands for Climate’. The exhibition showcases the beauty of the northern European peatlands and introduces you to the biodiversity and ecosystem functions of peatlands, as well as to the restoration areas from the LIFE Peat Restore project extending over five EU countries.
The photo exhibition will be accompanied by a panel discussion with government representatives and international experts. In addition to the keynote speech from Prof. Dr. Hans Joosten, discussions will focus on the future of peatland policy in northern Europe, national climate policies, including strategies for peatland restoration and phase-out of peat extraction.
There will be also time to converse informally, with drinks and delicacies from the Baltic countries. A full programme of the event will be made available on the LIFE Peat Restore website soon: https://life-peat-restore.eu/en/.
We look forward to seeing you on January 15, 2020. Doors open at 17:00. Please confirm attendance by January 8, 2020, at Janine.Jachtner@NABU.de.
The exhibition, prepared within the project “Reduction of CO2 emissions by restoring degraded peatlands in Northern European Lowland” (LIFE15 CCM/DE/000138, LIFE Peat Restore), is financed by EU LIFE programme.
