60 kilometer north east of Berlin the German project sites can be found. The three drained bog forests lie within the nature reserve Biesenthaler Becken, where Andreas Krone, the person of charge introduced the German team and provided an insight into the territory.
On about 15 hectares peatland will be restored by blocking and filling ditches so that the water level will be near above ground, which allows peat to accumulate and carbon to be stored.
At the moment the planning and designs are developed to implement the measures, which will start in 2017.
