In 1–2 June and 29–30 July 2017, several photographers gathered in the Latvian project areas, Engure Lake Nature Park and Augstroze Nature Reserve, to catch the moments of colourful orchid blossom, miraculous sunset atmosphere in raised bog, unforgettable sceneries of Augstroze Lake, and many other aspects of the mire beauty. The photo trips were initiated and organised by Māra Pakalne, the national project coordinator for Latvia, who has established a successful collaboration with the PhotoAcademy (Latvia). Several project experts and photographers participated in the trips and will contribute with their photos in the transportable exhibition which will be prepared within the LIFE Peat Restore project. The photo exhibition will show the project areas in all five project countries – Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. The photos will display various aspects of peatlands: human-caused impacts in peatlands and solutions applied within the project, as well as intact mires and their beauty including the flagship species. The exhibition will be mobile and will travel through all five project countries. The exhibition will be demonstated during different project events and will be placed also in buildings available for local communities from the surroundings of project areas.
