In\ncooperation with the Embassies of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, NABU is excited\nto announce the photo exhibition \u2018Restoring Peatlands for Climate\u2019. The\nexhibition showcases the beauty of the northern European peatlands and\nintroduces you to the biodiversity and ecosystem functions of peatlands, as\nwell as to the restoration areas from the LIFE Peat Restore project extending\nover five EU countries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nphoto exhibition will be accompanied by a panel discussion with government\nrepresentatives and international experts. In addition to the keynote speech\nfrom Prof. Dr. Hans Joosten, discussions will focus on the future of peatland\npolicy in northern Europe, national climate policies, including strategies for\npeatland restoration and phase-out of peat extraction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will be also time to converse informally, with drinks and delicacies from the Baltic countries. A full programme of the event will be made available on the LIFE Peat Restore website soon: https:\/\/life-peat-restore.eu\/en\/<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On March 8, 2019, the international transportable photo exhibition \u201cRestoring peatlands for climate\u201d opened for the first time in Riga, Botanical Garden of the University of Latvia. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The\nexhibition, prepared within the project \u201cReduction of CO2<\/sub> emissions\nby restoring degraded peatlands in Northern European Lowland\u201d\n(LIFE15 CCM\/DE\/000138, LIFE Peat Restore), is financed by EU LIFE\nprogramme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
